About the Issues

The growing use of electronic voting systems across the country has brought to light the potential for serious, untraceable errors and fraud in the voting process. As communities around the country continue to adopt electronic voting as a way to save money, the accuracy and fairness of election systems comes into question.
Election System Problems In Arizona -
Systems In Violation of State Law

There are four basic problems with election systems in Arizona:

Problem 1. Pima County and the City of Tucson are using and have used uncertified firmware and software in recent elections, in violation of state law.

Problem 2: Diebold Election Systems, the vendor for large portions of Arizona's election equipment, has developed and delivered software that independent analysts characterize as having a "high risk of compromise."

Problem 3: Both the state certification process and the national testing process are ineffective and have resulted in poor quality software in our election systems,

Problem 4: Touch-screen voting systems, to be purchased in Arizona to accommodate the disabled, violate state law and do not provide any means for auditing an election.  More....

 

In-Depth Voting Report - Pima County

Recent elections uncovered a number of voting irregularities in states across the nation. A CalTech-MIT study concluded that four to six million votes in 2000 were lost due to problems with ballots, voting machines and registration. Some of these irregularities have been traced to electronic voting equipment and software systems that are manufactured and sold by a small number of companies with extremely conservative founders and investors who have contributed heavily to the Republican Party.
